There are loads of posts out there where folks have asked others' for song suggestions and urged the community to drop links to their favorite tunes. I have pretty eclectic tastes and am open to whatever, so I've always enjoyed digging through the comments section of these posts and taste-testing different tunes. I've even kicked off one of my own suggest-a-song posts previously with Share your favorite Halloween tunes.
With that in mind, I've decided to start up a weekly series where folks can chime in and drop links to whatever it is they're listening to + browse others suggestions.
So, what have y'all been listening to today? Note: you can embed a link to your song on most platform using the following syntax {% embed https://... %}
.
I look forward to tuning into y'all's tunes!

I really like music in French
Wow, I really like this. 🙂 I've not listened to much French music, but this is dope.
Thanks for sharing!
It would be interesting to take this idea to a post in Spanish @michaeltharrington
Ooo it would indeed!
If you're up for it, I'd be happy for ya to take this idea and repost it in Spanish. You could post it as is and link back here or just take the idea without attribution and roll with it the way ya wanna. 🙂
I would love to take the idea with your permission and make a weekly post to share music
Absolutely cool with me! Please do take it and run with it. 😀
It'll be fun to check out each others' posts and see the different suggestions we get. 🙌
That’s a lovely song. Nice and smooth, I like it.
The little music I know in French is all Dub (Reggae) or Stromae 😅. My favorite is Dub Inc., which is somewhat rap style in the verses with English choruses... I totally had to google translate them to understand what I’m listening to though 🤣
Awww yeah, I remember us listening to Dub when you visited me. You turned me on to a lotta cool stuff. I also remember ya schooling me a bit on soundsystem culture — such a dope scene! 🙌
I just started listening to a band from Argentina that's been around for ~20 years and can't believe it took me this long to discover them 🙃
A more rock 'n' roll (some punk/grunge mixed in there maybe?) english band I've had on heavy rotation recently is "OK Go"
They have some funky stuff too 🔥
Woot! Awesome suggestions, Fernando. Thank ya!
I just found Intoxicados on YouTube cause apparently the tune isn't located in my country via Spotify. Sharing here in case any other folks have this issue!
I really like this tune by the way. Very chill. 😎
I'm also digging the OK Go tunes a lot. I hadn't listened to these folks in forever, but I always loved the music video for "Here It Goes Again" (check it out below 👇). Both of the songs you dropped by them are awesome; especially loving "I Won't Let You Down" which you're absolutely right is so dang funky!
Oh wow, that’s the first time I’ve seen that done by Spotify, it’s usually YouTube that restricts content based on location for me 😅
The lyrics are 🧑🍳 💋 too, albeit in Spanish. It talks about how grateful they are of the good friends they have in life, which makes it lovely to sing along to (a “love song” to friends isn’t that common AFAICT)
Oh that music video brings back some great MTV era memories! Iconic with the treadmills
Aww man, I'm gonna have to look up the lyrics and first try my best to read them in Spanish, but then translate them to English. I love the idea of a love song for friends — that's a seriously cool idea and I think you're right that it's not super common. I'm gonna try and think of some songs that go with that premise and will be sure to share!
Please do share if you find some! You know I vibe with most if not all your suggestions so far 😆
I've been tuning into Jane's Addiction today. I think this is likely because I've been listening to lotsa Red Hot Chili Peppers lately and the two bands have a definite connection as the guitarist for Jane's Addiction temporarily joined RHCP for the album One Hot Minute.
Anyway, the song that I've been digging most is "Been Caught Stealing" which ya can listen to via Spotify or YouTube below:
Jane's Addiction are really something!
If you're interested in some of the backstory of the new Chilis album, the producer Rick Rubin interviews each of the band members individually on the Broken Record Podcast, starting with John Frusciante.
Rick Rubin is so chill, and it's cool to hear them opening up about the history of the band and the new album.
Oh this is right my alley. Thanks for sharing!!
Side note: I listened to Rick Rubin interview Andre 3000 a while back and he is one super chill human being. It was a great interview with Andre 3000 too... he talked really openly about feeling insecure about new music.
Anywho, I'll totally be tuning into this interview with the Chilis!
When I code I prefer Mozart, Miles Davis, or something else without lyrics. When I play something myself, I tend to become more noisy ;)

Awww yayeah!
I'm with you on the lyric-less tunes while working otherwise I can easily get distracted.
And ooooo your playing is excellent!! I'm listening to Chicken Pickin' now and digging it! Do you play all the parts here? Following you on SoundCloud now!
Thx Michael, I'm playing bass and guitar on Chicken Pickin'. I also have an acoustic drum kit, a piano and a saxophone - However, guitar is my strongest instrument ...
Chicken Pickin' will be featured in a Hollywood documentary about Chuck Norris actually :D
Haha! That is so random and so awesome. Congrats!
And dang! You could be a 1 man band. 🎸🥁🎹🎷
When I want to focus and code, I’ll put on my playlist containing all currently released Meaningwave instrumental tracks:

I’m a big fan of Akira the Don’s work—bringing philosophy to the masses through music. I would never have started exploring philosophy if I hadn’t stumbled across his music.
Woaaa... I didn't even know about Meaningwave! Sounds like a really dope sub-genre of lofi. From the description I found:
I have absolutely gotten into lofi music over the past few years, this sounds like a good thing for me to dig into! Thanks so much for the suggestion!
Anytime! ☺️🙇♂️
There’s some super motivational stuff in Akira the Don’s catalogue, as well as plenty to ponder and think on. Some of his excellent albums I’d highly recommend are:
And hey, if you’re more into the lofi side of things and don’t care for the lyrics, every album has a corresponding instrumental version too! 😊
Oh awesome! Thanks so much for offering up this list.
I've been listening to Songs About Discipline and really digging it. Hopefully I'll absorb some of these samples and get more motivated to make my own lofi tunes haha... who knows, maybe I'll dabble in Meaningwave too.
Aside from Akira the Don, I will absolutely explore the rest of your suggestions here.
Really appreciate it!
My pleasure! 😊
And FYI in case it wasn’t clear, all of my suggestions were from Akira the Don—those albums I listed included the names of the people whose talks/lectures/interviews/works he sampled.
OOoooooo... I get ya now. I'm glad ya cleared that up! 😀
I'm totally gonna be tuning into these one-by-one. If a particular track hits me here, I'll give you a quick shout and let ya know!
I’m all over the map with music and I’m the type of person that can listen to the same song on repeat forever.
Some songs in my current rotation:
Heck yeah! Variety is the spice of life. These look like some awesome suggestions, btw. 🙂
I'm also a big fan of Nine Inch Nails and Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross collabs. I currently have this on repeat. So much great instrumental stuff.
Today was an Air day — specifically "Moon Safari" 😌
I was just six years old when this album came out but my dad would play it constantly so the album kind of feels like a peripheral soundtrack to my childhood.
I think all the songs on this album are tremendously good, but my favorite is Ce Matin Là. The best way I can describe what I feel when I hear it is a warped, cartoonish, and oversaturated sense of déjà vu and timelessness. Pretty cool track — the bass in it gets me every time!
.
Shoutout to @duxtech 🇫🇷
I absolutely love "Moon Safari" and definitely pop it on frequently when at work! But I'm gonna have to tune into more of this album... I'll start with your suggestion - "Ce Matin Là"!
And so funny cause this is exactly what came to my mind when reading Christian's comment about liking French music. The other band that came to mind is Daft Punk, haha!
I have been hooked to this song :

I'm obsessed with the energy this band brought to Wolf Trap a few weeks ago. Sometimes you show up for a concert music unheard, and it's just awesome.
Also, because we have a performance coming up, I've been listening to the legendary JBC!
Nice!! Very cool suggestions. Just had to look up Wolf Trap and it sounds like a super cool place (places?) to go see a show!
Also, wish you the best on your upcoming performance, this sounds like a tough but exciting tune to play! I see Brass-bander in your profile... what do you play?
I play the tuba (Eb Bass, in British brass band terms) for The Rockville Brass Band.
Very cool! I really wish I could play a wind instrument.
Love Mark Knopfler's and Dire Straits' music since teenage years.

I really like the Dire Straits and have listened to a few of their hits, but I have yet to fully dive into their music. I really want to... I know they have some awesome stuff just waiting for me! I'm gonna check out these tunes and maybe that'll get me rolling (and rocking).
