We're back with another one! This time around, I wanna hear y'all's choice heavy music. Whether your mind goes straight to your favorite metal riffs or if you're more into other flavors of heavy, I wanna hear what you listen to when you wanna get hyped up. Maybe your into thumping electronic beats or like rap that's raw and in-you-face. Whatever heavy music you're into, share it below! 🤘
How we do
In this weekly series, folks can chime in and drop links to whatever it is they've been listening to recently + browse others suggestions. You can follow the suggested genre if you'd like, but don't feel confined to it; you're free to suggest whatever you wanna. 🙌
If you're interested in having other discussions about music, consider following the aptly named #music discussions organization.
Let's get heavy! Note: you can embed a link to your song using the following syntax {% embed https://... %}
. This should work for most common platforms!
Looking forward to listening to y'all's suggestions! 🎶

I'm a big proponent of video game soundtracks. The Metal Gear Rising: Revengence soundtrack is my personal favorite, but there are others that put up a pretty good fight. Been playing a lot of LoL recently so I got back into the Pentakill songs too!
This freaking rocks so hard. 🤘
I absolutely love Metal Gear, though I only ever played the demo of Rising. Still, this music fits so well, haha. Reminds of how hard the Dynasty Warriors soundtrack used to rock too... when slaying through hordes upon hordes of enemies, heavy metal just works. 🎸
I've been on a The Fratellis binge recently. Relatively heavy for me, as in pretty intense songs, not as in heavy metal "heavy" though.
It's rock-ish but with big Ska vibes to it. Makes me want to jump in a mosh pit and throw elbows with a bunch of strangers lol
Loving it!! This is pretty dang heavy for the Ska world and just a lotta fun.
Also, side note: I love how ska often mixes the reggae and punk worlds... it's so fun to go from super chill music (Reggae) to high energy rock (Punk). It makes the chill chiller and the rock rockier.
Fully agree with and love this interpretation 😆
Listening to Gojira today, going to watch them live in November
Dropping a tune for ya here. This music video is killer:
Oh hell yeah Bruno! 🤘
That's gonna be one helluva show. Have a good time!
I've been waiting for the upcoming topic to come out and just wanted to drop this, because... He's back! Sorry if it's not match the Heavy music topic. Maybe after this I will share my recommendation on heavy music too.
No apologies necessary, Dendi!
You know I always welcome fresh DJ SHOTA. And wow, this is silky smooth. Lovin' the riff on 50's 21 Questions at the beginning... the vocoder and that jazzy piano... it's just too perfect. Great suggestion!
And a reminder to any onlookers, while we have a weekly theme, you all are always welcome to color outside the lines. 😎
Thanks to suggestions from members of the DEV Team earlier this summer, I've been loving Queens of the Stone Age...
I had never really gotten into their stuff before, so I've been digging through their discography and enjoying many of their albums, not just the new one (which is great). I really like how their sound has morphed and expanded throughout time. It's good stuff!
I'm definitely an Era Vulgaris fan, and while I had never sat down and listened to it front to back before, I'd definitely experienced a bunch of the songs from Songs for the Deaf at one point or another in my life (that album freaking rocks). I absolutely love this rockin' performance of "You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar" from The Basement (of course, if you've never heard the studio version before, please check it out now!).
One hit that keeps earworming it's way through my brain is "The Lost Art of Keeping A Secret" ... not the most hardrocking tune, but I dig it.
Opeth's Damnation is the album that is just so heavy but so mellow. It's the album you play when you want metal vibes but you have to concentrate on something. It's the album you put on "the morning after the night before" when you've been out and you've drunk way beyond your normal limit. Even my wife, a devoted Coldplay fan, loves this album!
Just hits that sweet spot of being brutal but mind meltingly mellow.
Bringing only brazilian bands today \m/

Hope you like it o/
Woot!! Awesome stuff, Carlos.
I'm finally getting to your suggestions and wow, these tunes rock. Really appreciate you sharing some heavy tunage from Brazil! 🤘
Cool to hear these different flavors of heavy, I enjoyed all three!
Wooooo yeah! Rock on, Arthur. 🤘
This reminds me of something I recently saw... there's a YouTube channel called Drumeo and they do this series where a professional drummer listens to a song for the first time with the drum track muted out from the song. They then make up their own drum part for the song and play along with it.
Anyway, check out this one where Domino Santantonio (primarily a pop drummer) plays on Slipknot's "Before I Forget"... I think she rocks it:
It looks really funny and interesting to watch. Thank you for sharing this channel. I'll definitely subscribe.
I recently saw a video playing Slipknot in public and people go crazy :D
And this is why Dave Grohl is quite possibly the coolest rocker out there today. 🎸

A great Brazilian singer with a very good/relaxing type of music! I recommend!
Ooooo yeah, Seu Jorge is phenomenal!
I first got introduced to him, probably the same way a lot of Americans did, via the Wes Anderson film The Life Aquatic. Seu Jorge plays David Bowie tunes with just an acoustic guitar and sings them in a beautiful Brazilian Portuguese baritone. It's super cool.
Thanks for sharing some of his other stuff with me, Renan.
I had never heard him playing David Bowie and I went to listen, it was really wonderful! Your music posts have really been a source of knowledge 🤣
Thankss 🤟
I'm really glad ya feel that way, Renan. 😀
My programming knowledge is limited, but I do listen to quite a lotta music. Happy to share tunes with ya... and likewise, happy to listen to your suggestions!
So glad ya enjoyed the Seu Jorge covers of Bowie! 👨🎤
